2,000 panels on a green retailer’s roof
Background
Celieplant was founded by the current director John Celie in 1994. Since then, Celieplant has specialised in delivering garden and house plants to large retailers throughout Europe. Together with their growers they aim for environmentally-friendly surroundings. The SDE+ (Encouraging Sustainable Energy) subsidy has enabled the company to install 2,000 solar panels on the roof of its head office. Libra Cleantech Projects supported installer Kandelaar throughout this huge commercial project.
Challenge
The customer had already fixed a date on when the solar panel system should be operational. This meant that the project needed to be completed within three weeks.
Results
The new Valk pro+ mountingsystem was installed without problem. A large cover was constructed for the 25 inverters enabling them to be housed outside on the roof. As planned, the festive opening of the 2,000-panel solar system took place on 1 October. The solar system will generate over 520,000 kilowatt-hours annually; comparable to the average annual electricity consumption of 200 households.
