How do I choose the right cable diameter? Due to frequently asked questions, here’s a convenient tool to calculate the correct AC cable diameter (230V): Calculation toolOpens in a new tab

What is the cable calculation module?

The cable calculation module is a user-friendly tool based on the latest NEN1010 standard. It helps you easily determine the correct cable diameter for your installation.

Attention: cable loss and inverter shutdown

Aim for a cable loss of less than 1%. If the loss is higher, the inverter may shut down—especially in situations where sunlight intensity changes rapidly (bright sun, then suddenly a cloud).

The MPP tracker ramps up power quickly, but if the cable capacity is insufficient, the voltage rises too much. As a result, the inverter will shut down with a ‘grid fault’, and you’ll lose valuable yield.

In the Netherlands, this happens when the AC voltage exceeds 253 Volts.
