Why does an Alfen charger stop immediately after starting a charging session?

Person charging a white electric vehicle at a Eve Single charging station, connected by a blue cable.

During the initial installation of an Alfen charger, it can happen that a test session is suddenly interrupted. This usually indicates an incorrect or missing configuration of the charger.

Possible cause: missing configuration

If the charger is not correctly set as a standalone unit or not yet linked to a back office, the charging session will stop prematurely. The charger simply doesn’t know how to operate.

Solution: configure the correct back office

Use the ACE Service Installer to set up the correct configuration:

  1. Go to the Connectivity tab.
  2. Under Backoffice Preset, select the appropriate option:

    • Choose None if you want a standalone installation.
    • Choose your specific back office (e.g. Alfen, Last Mile Solutions, e-flux, etc.) if the charger needs to communicate with a platform.

Once the correct preset is selected and saved, the charging session should start normally.
