P1 Extension modules for EV charger load balancing

The Cedel accessory (CED-P1-VRL-UNV) is an extension module designed for EV charger load balancing. Load balancing can be utilized for charging stations connected to a smart meter. However, the distance between the charging station and the smart meter is often too great for a standard P1 cable, preventing the load balancing function from working correctly. Cedel's P1 extension modules allow the charging station to connect to the smart meter using a standard UTP cable over distances of up to 100 meters. This enables the charging station's charging current to be adjusted according to the specific energy consumption situation. The CED-P1-VRL-UNV kit consists of the following components: a smart meter module, a charging station module, two P1 cables, and a manual.

Plug & Play load balancing

To use the extension modules, first connect the smart meter module to the smart meter using a P1 cable. Next, connect one end of the network cable to that module and the other end to the charging station module. Then, connect the latter to the charging station. The charging station will immediately recognize your smart meter and begin load balancing—no configuration required.
