How can I determine the string lenght with SolarEdge?

SolarEdge power optimisers maintain fixed string voltage at the inverter input. This gives you greater freedom when designing strings. Furthermore, SolarEdge allows you to add up to twice as many panels per string as with a traditional inverter. This results in a considerable reduction in the number of string and correspondingly the number of cables, fuses and other components or system costs.

Remember the following simple design rules:

  • Each PV system with more than six panels can be designed using SolarEdge
  • Single-phase inverter: every system up to 5.25 kW can be designed using a single string
  • Three-phase inverter: every system up to 11.25 kW can be designed using a single string
  • All SolarEdge systems can be built up from a maximum of two strings per inverter
  • P300, P350 and P500 1:1 power optimisers can be used alongside one another in a string
  • P600 and P700 2:1 commercial power optimisers can be used alongside one another in a string
  • 1:1 and 2:1 optimisers may not be used together in the same string
  • The P405 may not be used with any other type of optimiser in the same string

Addendum:

  • P600 may only be used in conjunction with an inverter greater or equal to 15 kW
  • P700 may only be used in conjunction with an inverter greater or equal to 16 kW
